Mizar

Mizar is the new line of EtherCAT CNC/PLC controllers created with the aim of improving the performance of Tpa control systems by embracing modern technological standards in terms of firmware design and hardware performance.

Every Mizar is an OPC UA server and EtherCAT master. It also provides CANopen, RS-232 and RS-485 interfaces.
Mizars are compact and fanless, mountable on a DIN rail and run on 12-Volt power. The minimum real-time cycle ranges between 1 ms for Mizar.200 and 0.25 ms for Mizar.600, they can control machines up to 64 axes and assembly lines. The machine configuration can be developed using Albatros Studio IDE, the new configuration software and PLC code editor designed for Mizar that allows defining the machine logical and physical structure and the program functions to be shared among different machine groups.

Using the new Tpa Synoptic, it is possible to design clear and practical user interfaces and, thanks to its SCADA editor, run them on a standard web browser.

  • multicore CPU and multithread firmware architecture that allow running thousands of PLC instructions per real-time cycle and executing micro-paths in interpolation without jerking;

  • Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) compliant;

  • 2-value axis-position linear corrector (e.g. Z correction based on X and Y position);

  • can store over 100.000 non-volatile variables (defined as simple variables);

  • cartesian and lathe kinematics up to 5 axes;

  • up to 6 simultaneous interpolation channels;

  • integrated UPS in case of sudden power outage;

  • can define variables as STRING, BOOLEAN, CHAR, BYTE, INTEGER, DOUBLE, TIMER;

  • two independent feed-rate overrides (Mizar.300 and Mizar.600 only);

  • 2 Watchdogs that can be connected to a safety PLC;

  • Wi-Fi (optional).
